From environmental emergency to technological breakthrough

As the world’s most consumed manufactured material, cement needs to start its revolution. We produce unique and innovative solutions in a cement sector that has remained unchanged for 200 years: decarbonised cements, produced without firing and without clinker.
At Hoffmann Green, we are convinced that disruptive innovation in the ecological field is a real opportunity to reduce carbon footprints and generate a positive impact.
A human adventure
Hoffmann Green was born of the meeting of David Hoffmann, an experienced scientist sensitive to environmental challenges, and Julien Blanchard, a born entrepreneur already at the helm of two historic Vendée-based building materials companies (Argilus and Gillaizeau). The two men will combine their strengths and experience to revolutionize cement manufacturing. Responsible for 7% of CO₂* emissions worldwide, cement manufacturing had hardly changed since its creation 200 years ago. It was time to act. Joining forces in 2014, the two entrepreneurs decided to change the game by developing new decarbonated, 0% clinker cements using co-products from the industry. Over the years, the two entrepreneurs have been able to federate complementary talents to enable the mass distribution of these new cements.
Breaking new ground for a low-carbon society
The Hoffmann Green adventure is both scientific and technical. In less than 10 years, the company has gone from initial experiments in David Hoffmann’s garage to the marketing of four certified and evaluated technologies. These are truly “out of the ordinary” cements, which have required constant R&D, evaluation and certification to enable their use in the full range of concrete applications. These breakthrough innovations offer at least the same technical performance as traditional cements, with environmental benefits that are unique in the world.
An industrial adventure “made in France”
Hoffmann Green is one of the spearheads of the new generation of French industrial companies. From the outset, the company has led a large-scale industrial project to provide a massive response to the urgent need to decarbonize construction. Hoffmann Green has developed an industrial process unique in the world, embodied in its plant model: the first vertical cement plant. With its small footprint, energy autonomy and 4.0 technology, everything has been designed to develop an industry that serves the planet and its people. With a capacity of 400,000 tonnes per year, these plants are designed to be built as close as possible to consumption areas, through a progressive network of regional networks.
An international adventure
CO₂ has no borders. To accelerate the global response to the environmental crisis, Hoffmann Green has very quickly expanded outside France. By 2022, the company has entered into strategic partnerships to make its cements accessible in Switzerland and England. In 2023, international development accelerated further, with the first announcements of licensed developments in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
